Geibi Gorge is in the south of Iwate Prefecture, in Japan's northern Tohoku region.
It is about two hours from Tokyo when using the shinkansen (bullet train), and about an hour away from Sendai International Airport.

POKÉMON with YOU Trains
With the POKÉMON with YOU Train, JR hopes to bring back the smiles to the faces of the children of Tohoku, who suffered so much in the Great East Japan Earthquake, and add some fun for all the kids who visit the region. The train is decorated inside and out with images and themes of the Pikachu character from the Pokemon games and cartoons. The POKÉMON with YOU Train runs on the JR Ofunato Line on weekends and holidays, making one round-trip journey daily between Ichinoseki and Kessennuma on weekends and holidays.
